Lesley Hossner - Director

It was Lesley’s background in retailing and customer service within manufacturing and her understanding of corporate culture, as well as her experience of teaching languages to business people in major companies, that led her to set up LIB in 1991.

She became interested in the process of language learning while studying psychology as part of her degree and spends considerable time exploring current research, especially in the areas of Accelerated Learning and NLP (NeuroLinguistic Programming).  She is an area co-ordinator for SEAL (Society for Effective Affective Learning) and has acted as consultant to several schools on the process of Learning to Learn.

She is married with 3 children and a large chocolate labrador.

Alison Hancock – Training and Development

Alison originally trained to teach English and Drama and after completing a degree at Cambridge spent 14 years in Italy, where she took up a career in English as a Foreign Language and became RSA Diploma qualified.  She became highly effective in the various roles of teacher, materials designer, director of studies and teacher-trainer.

She joined LIB in 1994 teaching Italian and English and soon became involved in the business development.  Like Lesley, she is fascinated by the process of learning, particularly languages, and draws on her wide experience to develop our course content and support LIB’s network of tutors.

Married, with lively young twin daughters, she is extremely adept at streamlining systems!
